From time to time many renowned artists, sportsmen, politicians, celebrities, influencer took to several platforms to reach out the common people concerning aspects which require immediate or major attention.
Recently, Alia Bhatt took an initiative to aware citizens about the benefits of getting vaccinated by launching a podcast show, where she along with doctors and health activists, will bust myths about Covid-19 vaccines and will encourage the audience to get vaccinated.
Now, the Mirzapur star, Ali Fazal is in talks that he will be setting up a series of discussions on mental health awareness for people across different age groups and professions, including children, Covid-19 patients and caregivers. The virtual event, which will be held live, aims to focus on the importance of mental health during and after recovery from the novel coronavirus, a press release said. Ali, was approached by Dr Rukhsana Khan for the initiative, said it is necessary for the society to have a regular conversation on mental health. The date for the series is yet to be announced.
“It all starts with reaching out, acknowledging. That’s the core of mental health. Now and for all times, we need to be more empathetic towards doctors and nurses and all other frontline workers. “Because the trauma they’re facing on a daily basis today is bound to take an enormous toll on their mental health tomorrow,” Ali, said in a statement.
According to the press release, the initiative will be in collaboration with senior psychiatrists Dr Harish Shetty and Dr Anjali Chabariya from Mumbai, and Dr Aleem Siddiqui from Lucknow, immediate past direct council member of Indian Psychiatric Society.
Ali said he will also participate in “some live sessions” of the initiative.
Actor Deepika Padukone, who has been quite vocal about her battle with depression, recently took to her social media handles to urge people to take proper care of their mental health. On her Instagram account, she had shared a list of several mental health helpline numbers. Amid the surge in cases, many stars like Katrina Kaif, Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, Mira Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar, among others have been using social media to amplify the voices of those in need.
Rapper Raftaar said, “Panic and negative self-talk are more dangerous than the virus. It’s not easy [to stay calm], but please don’t fear the virus. In such times, it’s of utmost importance to have faith and trust in the power of the universe.”
Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, who himself was the victim and suffered from the virus said, “This is the best time to start these conversations and seek help when required. We need to remember that it’s okay to not be okay, but it is not ‘okay’ to not seek assistance.” “Through the pandemic, there have been days when I’ve felt unexplainably low. On such days, I pushed myself to talk to people around me — my wife, my friends, my parents. I utilised a lot of creative distraction in the last one year and took to outlets like art, literature and music to keep my vision board alive and feel a sense of fulfillment,” added Neil.
Actor Suniel Shetty emphasised that “mental nutrition” has become as important as nutrition through food. He further explained, “Jaise aapko breakfast, lunch, snacks aur dinner chahiye, ussi tarah mental nutrition bhi chahiye. It’s important to talk to people, counsel and assure them.”
Also, none other than actor Madhuri Dixit Nene focused on the same and shared echoing thought on the matter. She said, “At this point, it’s important to reach out to your friends and family members and just check, if everything is okay, support them, and check if they need any help.”
Hence, amid this fragile moment, it is extremely necessary to understand and learn the concepts of self-love, self belief and self-trust and one should seek proper help, if needed.
