The new dad and the ‘Perfect’ singer Ed Sheeran, is recently in talks to have collaboration with the Grammy nominated band BTS. BTS’s last mega–hit ‘Butter’ which is still deservedly atop Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks in a row, is now in talks to have a physical CD single.

On June 14, after wrapping up 2021 MUSTER SOWOOZOO Day 2 and a day after their 8th anniversary, the Bangtan Boys teased ARMY with some ‘Breaking News’, which turned out to be the unveiling of Butter CD single, to be released on BTS ARMY’s birthday, i.e. July 9.

They coyly added that along with Butter, “the CD will also include a new track that will you’re your heart beat to the rhythm of BTS’s positive energy. We look forward to the love and support from all fans.” It will also include instrumental versions of both songs.

The ‘Bad habits’ singer left ARMYs in some more utter chaos when he casually revealed on Most Requested Live, “I’ve actually worked with BTS on their last record and I’ve just written a song for them for their new record. And they’re like super, super cool guys as well.” While Big Hit confirmed the collaboration between Ed and BTS, which marks their second track together after Make It Right, it wasn’t confirmed if it was for Permission to Dance. After Sheeran’s spoiler, fans were quick to point out that the title ‘Permission to Dance’ was featured in a set of concept photos that BTS shared this week.

Bighit Music, on July 1 took to their official Twitter and posted a colourful animated video which reveals the tracklist, which also includes instrumental versions of both the aforementioned songs (Butter and Permission to Dance). Big Hit then shared the official CD single cover for ‘Butter’. ‘Permission to Dance’ is written by Sheeran alongside Steve Mac, Johnny McDaid (Sheeran’s collaborator and member of Snow Patrol) and Jenna Andrews. It is produced by Mac, Andrews and Stephen Kirk.

According to preview images, the CD will be available in two styles: an orange “peaches” version and a yellow “cream” version. Meanwhile, BTS has been releasing ‘Permission to Dance’ concept pictures from past 4 days, which already has made ARMYs’ skip their heartbeats multiple times. The group is giving their fans ‘permission to dance’ and celebrate their eighth birthday. The group has previously had collaborations with artists like SIA, Halsey, Lauv, Jason Derulo, Nicki Minaj, Lil Nas X, the Chainsmokers, Becky G, Steve Aoki and Charlie Puth.

Meanwhile, Ed dropped his new single ‘Bad Habits’ which has become the new ear-addiction. The ‘All of our stars’ singer also shared some insight into his longtime pal Taylor Swift’s re-recording of her 2012 album Red. While chatting with The Official Big Top 40, Ed was asked when they will be recording the track for the re-record. “I’ve already done it,” he confirmed. “I’ve already recorded it.” “Taylor‘s got a few surprises in store for you, I’ll say that,” teasing Swifties he playfully added. On the 2012 album, Taylor and Ed sang “Everything Has Changed”, their romantic duet which was a massive hit and which indeed changed everything.

Thus, fans are eagerly looking forward to the next Friday i.e. 9th July. Earlier this week,  ‘Butter’ topped the Billboard Top 100 chart for the fifth consecutive week smashing the record previously held by Aerosmith’s 1998 hit ‘I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’.
