A photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statue on a Chowk is getting viral on social media. One can see a giant kettle on the top of Modi’s statue. It is being claimed that this Chowk has been built in India and it has been named Narendra Modi chowk. Few of the social media users are also claiming that this chowk has been build in Darbhanga, Bihar. People are sharing a photo of the square with a very unique design, in which the statue of Narendra Modi is installed. Water is pouring from this giant tea kettle on this idol of Modi. Also, there is a board on the side of the road, on which it is written, ‘Narendra Modi Chowk, Babu Bhadwa, Darbhanga’. A Facebook user shared the post “Blasphemous Yeh ho kya kya hai, Jeet ji koi ke kaam chowk-intersection, stadium-hospital tradition is not in our country!” Anti-Fake News War Room (AFWA) found that the photo of the square containing the kettle and the statue of Modi on social media is being shared by editing the photo of a square in Faisalabad, Pakistan. The name of this square of Pakistan is Station Chowk. Its original photo contains only kettle and cup-plate shaped sculptures. Neither the statue of Narendra Modi is seen in the photo here nor any board written ‘Narendra Modi Chowk’. The photo is captioned as, ‘Faisalabad: a beautiful view of the kettle-cup sculptures installed to enhance the beauty of the city.’ “DEER TEA PHA” written at the bottom, Faisalabad: Kettle and cup installed for beauty in Station Chowk.” This image was posted on September 25, 2018, and it clearly mentions that this is from Faisalabad, Pakistan, and not from India.
In 2018 , a BJP supporter living in Babu Bhadwa village of Darbhanga alleged that his father was murdered simply because he had put up a board of ‘Narendra Modi Chowk’ near his shop.
Later in this case, the police gave this statement that this murder was done on the dispute of land. The then Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi also had a tweet on the matter that the murder in the Darbhanga case was done due to a land dispute and not because of putting up a board with Modi Chowk. Therefore, the kettle statue square is in Faisalabad city of Pakistan. By adding the idol of PM Modi in the photo of this chowk, it is being described as ‘Narendra Modi chowk’ of Darbhanga. The government has not named any square in Darbhanga after Prime Minister Modi.
