Indian Farmers’ Protest is an ongoing protest against three farm acts which were passed by the Parliament of India in September 2020. The Indian Parliament passed three agriculture acts during its monsoon session culminating on 23 September.
Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020. This act allows farmers to engage in trade of their agricultural produce outside the physical markets notified under various state Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee laws (APMC acts).
Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance, Farm Services Act, 2020. This act seeks to provide farmers with a framework to engage in contract farming, where farmers can enter into a direct agreement with a buyer (before sowing season) to sell the produce to them at pre-determined prices and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.This act seeks to restrict the powers of the government with respect to production, supply, and distribution of certain key commodities.

Aside from music, Rihanna is known for her involvement in humanitarian causes, entrepreneurial ventures, and the fashion industry. The singer tweeted “why aren’t we talking about this? #farmersprotest” on her twitter account about the ongoing farmer protests in India. Her post triggered the emotions of the Indian public and many renowned people re-tweeted on the same.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, a vocal supporter of the BJP. In a series of tweets, she criticised Rihanna’s work, her music, her appearance, even her skin colour. She posted photos of the pop star in a bikini, called her a “porn star” and a “porn singer”, and insinuated that she had been paid for the tweet. A few pro-government news channels described Rihanna as “an ill-informed outsider” who was a part of a “plot to divide India” and vowing that “propaganda will not win”.
“India’s sovereignty cannot be compromised. External forces can be spectators but not participants. Indians know India and should decide for India. Let’s remain united as a nation,” wrote cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
The singer received a massive backlash from the country and sparked controversy and divided the whole fandom. Every country has its own set of privacy and no country wants to expose it. Indian public reacted in a furious manner as the ‘paid post’ of the singer started a propaganda about the ongoing situation which many people of India took as an insult for spreading the issues of the home country on a global scale.
