J.K. Rowling’s fantasy novels that were later made into movies, “Harry Potter” where Harry Potter (played by Daniel Radcliffe) and his adventures at Hogwarts along with his best buds Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ronald Wesley (Rupert Grint) became every kiddiewink’s fantasy. Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, says he’d gladly return to Hogwarts if given the opportunity.
Felton appeared as Draco in all eight ‘Harry Potter’ films, based off the book series of the same name by J.K. Rowling. The series spanned a total of almost 10 years, and the first movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in November. Although Felton was only 13 when he first took on the role, the young actor grew with the character as he gained depth and darkness over the years. Draco Malfoy Charm Speaking with People magazine to promote the opening of the Harry Potter New York flagship store, the 33-year-old actor revealed that not only would he jump at the chance to portray Draco again, but any Malfoy, like Draco’s father Lucius, originally played by Jason Isaacs, or Draco’s son, Scorpius.
Felton excitedly claimed, “If you are asking me will I dye my hair blonde again to be Draco, abso-bloody-lutely. Either him or Lucius. I will play Draco’s kid if you really want! Any chance to be a Malfoy again would be greatly accepted.” He also added he would be a little possessive over the character if some else plays it.
“I was speaking to Rupert [Grint], Daniel and Emma [Watson] separately the other day and [said], ‘Twenty years, can you imagine that?’ ” Felton said. “First of all, they all look the bloody same, literally. Rupert looks exactly the same. Also, we’re all sort of a bit flabbergasted that it’s [even] more popular [now]. We’re all a bit surprised by that. We’re certainly excited, and made to feel old when we realize that it was 20 years ago that we made the first film.”
Though, towards the end of the books and films, Malfoy faces multiple identity crises and ethical dilemmas that break down his arrogance, first into a scattered panic and eventually empty resignation. Draco Malfoy Charm Like Severus Snape, the question of whether Malfoy is good or evil is central to his character and his role in the story. Draco’s goodness remains ambiguous throughout the film as he waffles between bending to family pressure to support Lord Voldemort and a deeper human instinct to side with his Hogwarts peers. He shows support for both Harry and Voldemort in their final battle, leaving his allegiance unclear.
Located in the heart of the Big Apple, Harry Potter New York is the first official Potter-themed store in the state and is located next to the city’s iconic Flatiron building at 935 Broadway. The store spans three floors and covers over 21,000 square feet. The stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has created ongoing possibilities for original film cast members to reprise their roles, though there are currently no plans for a film adaptation. A Harry Potter TV series is also currently in early talks at HBO Max, so it’s not impossible that Felton could appear in the on-screen Wizarding World again.
