The ARMY’ are losing their mind for the upcoming collaboration between HYBE label’s worldwide K-pop sensation BTS and the ‘Bad Habits’ singer Ed Sheeran. BTS’s agency confirmed the news but did not mention the details. This would be the second time, these artists are collaborating. Previously, Sheeran collaborated with BTS on “Make it Right,” which was a part of the group’s 2019 EP “Map of the Soul: Persona.”
Fans have been posting about the news and are extremely excited for the collab. Taking to the Twitter a fan wrote, “So BigHit already confirmed about the song of BTS where Ed Sheeran participated but there’s no specific date for it. Y’all I’ve never been so excited for my best friend and and my best boy to have a collaboration.” Another fan tweeted, “BTS x Ed Sheeran collaboration??!! Ed Sheeran, our boy and our bestfriends BTS collab? wow!!”
Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran also revealed on the American radio show “Most Requested Live” that he had recently written a track for BTS boys. “I’ve actually worked with BTS on their last record. I’ve just written a new song for them, for their new record. They’re super, super cool guys,” he said.
The group’s last song was ‘BUTTER’ which became the most played video on YouTube in 24 hours and holds the record of the highest views. As per Guinness World Records, BTS’ latest single “Butter” registered the most number of views within 24 hours of its release. It recorded over 108 million views. Upon its release, “Butter” recorded 3.9 million concurrent views on YouTube, thus becoming the most-viewed music video in 24 hours on the platform. The record was previously held by BTS’ first English single Dynamite. At the time of publishing this article, the music video, titled BTS ‘Butter’ Official MV, has over 217 million views. Yup, Army’ broke their own record and this marked as one of the finest achievements for the group and set a benchmark in the history of K-pop. Besides ruling YouTube, the single also broke the record of most streamed track on Spotify in 24 hours with over 11 million global streams. It left behind Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber’s track “I Don’t Care” by 64,946 streams.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Butter was called “a pure, swaggering dance-pop celebration in the retro vein of Bruno Mars, with layers of Jam and Lewis-style synths.” The group’s leader RM said it was “very energetic and very summery,” with a “dynamic performance,” and we can’t beg to differ, the beats, the performance, the vibe, the visuals, the mood indeed are ‘smooth like butter’ which left us groovin’ and vibin’ on the track for weeks.
BTS’ Butter, which is already been topping the charts for the past four weeks, will be releasing on CD on 9th July. Big Hit had previously announced that this time there would be a new track which “will make your heart beat to the rhythm of BTS’ positive energy.”
The group has previously had collaborations with artists like SIA, Halsey, Lauv, Jason Derulo, Nicki Minaj, Lil Nas X, the Chainsmokers, Becky G, Steve Aoki and Charlie Puth.
