Sushant’s untimely demise left the entire B-town and the entire country in an utter disbelief with an unfulfillable void. The actor was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14, 2020. Soon after the actor’s funeral, his father KK Singh filed an FIR accusing Sushant’s girlfriend, actor Rhea Chakraborty of abetting suicide. He also accused her of money laundering. A lot has happened ever since. Ahead his death anniversary many celebs are remembering him and in his remembrance, sharing their fond memories with the late actor.

And from thenceforth, several celebrities have come forward and put emphasis on the need to talk about mental health.

Director Rumy Jafry on the eve of the actor’s death anniversary in an interview shared that he spoke with him over a call on 12th June, 2020, two days before the unfortunate incident happened. Jafry said that they were discussing a film proposal just when the country went under a nation-wide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

He said, “It was an intimate bond and we never clicked many pictures. He loved the food cooked by my wife and often came over for home cooked meals. Life is cruel. A year back, we used to speak to him and today, we are speaking about him.”

Actress Ankita Lokhande, Sushant’s co-star from Pavitra Rishta kept a havan at her house for Sushant on his death anniversary. They were in a relationship for six years until they broke-up in 2016. Ankita took a temporary break from social media with a post on 3rd June shared the holy fire and puja materials for the havan. Ankita posted “It’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you later”, the post was soon taken down as it didn’t go well with the public. They called her a hypocrite and claimed this as a pseudo event ahead of Sushant’s death anniversary. Sushant Singh Rajput 1st death anniversary A user commented, “Ankita knows that SSR death anniversary is round the corner, bohot publicity pa liye SSR ke naam pe! So let’s go underground now and come back later! #hypocrite @lokhandeankita.” Earlier in an interview Ankita revealed that she doesn’t have the ‘guts’ to write ‘Rest in Peace’ for Sushant. She stated, “People started judging me for not putting his picture on the same day he was gone. What do you expect from us? Koi apna chala jaata hai toh hum kya photo daalte hai (Do you put up a photo immediately after a loved one dies)? You won’t believe, till today, I have not ever posted any pictures of Sushant with ‘RIP’. I have no guts to put something like that for him. Because I can’t say, rest in peace, Sushant.”

Although, actor Shekhar Suman took to Twitter to talk about something that he has been standing up for a year. The veteran actor believes that Sushant didn’t die by suicide but was murdered and that’s what he mentioned in his tweet on the morning of June 14, 2021, Monday. He wrote, “It’s my firm belief that SSR was murdered brutally and did not commit suicide. And if that’s the case why are the culprits roaming around scot free?why justice is being delayed?why there is no closure???and many more unanswered questions.we need all d answers”. demanding justice for the late actor. Shekhar tweeted to allege that Sushant’s ‘culprits’ are roaming free and the authorities should do something to restore the public’s faith.

Actor Vivek Oberoi feels the industry is incapable of taking criticism. In fact, he’s wondering even if there is any way to accept the loopholes and flaws.

“We have our good side, but we refuse to acknowledge our bad side. For any individual, industry, or fraternity to flourish, one needs to know ke hum mein kitni khamiyan hain, our mistakes and the wrongs of the industry,” Oberoi points out, and adds, “But we have a little bit of ostrich syndrome. Because we don’t acknowledge that hamari industry mein kuch gadbad hai.” Sushant Singh Rajput 1st death anniversary

Referencing Rajput’s death, Oberoi tells us, “Last year, there was a major tragedy in our industry. Then also nobody wanted to really and truly acknowledge that there is something systematically wrong (in the industry), and just wanted to write it off ke ek incident hogaya.”

A star always shines no matter where it is positioned, Sushant will always be among us and we will always miss him.
